Lattari Mountains
The Lattari Mountains, which straddle the Gulf of Salerno and Gulf of Naples, are the backbone of the Sorrentine-Amalfi peninsula. The predominantly limestone, range of peaks is famous for its sweeping panoramas and great number of trekking routes. These routes start from the Sorrentine peninsula and terminate at Maiori, guiding walkers through truly unique scenery.
Before the arrival of modern roads suitable for vehicles, these pathways were the only land routes linking the destinations along the Amalfi Coast.
One can follow various itineraries through the Lattari Mountains. There is a whole network of pathways, although a number of these are no longer accessible. The pathways mentioned below are all passable and do not require any special equipment. It is, nevertheless, advisable to wear comfortable clothes and, in particular, long trousers and walking boots.
