Positano's Dolce Vita

  1. The charm of a historic hotel in Positano
  2. The delicious traditional local cuisine
  3. The vicinity to the Spiaggia Grande beach
Address
Via Rampa Teglia, 4 - Positano

Dating back to the early 1900's, Buca di Bacco is one of the oldest establishments in Positano. When Buca di Bacco first opened its doors to visitors travelling along the Amalfi Coast, it was in the form of simple tavern in which to enjoy delicious local food and wine.

A favourite port of call for the intellectuals and artists who "discovered" Positano at the start of the 20th century, over the decades Buca di Bacco was gradually enlarged so as to provide not only excellent food but charming accommodation too.

Antique writing desks, sweeping drapes, floors laid with the colorful, hand-painted majolica tiles from Vietri, bathrooms in precious marble and glorious sun-kissed terraces: Hotel Buca di Bacco's rooms recall the classic Mediterranean elegance of the area's most luxurious coastal villas, combined with the technology and services of a Grand Hotel.

The food prepared by Anna (ably assisted by her niece, Carla) is just as delicious as that once prepared by her grandparents: traditional dishes, made with only the very freshest, locally sourced ingredients, to be accompanied by a glass or two of Bacchus's favourite beverage. Entertaining, hands-on cooking lessons are available, on request.

Unforgettable experience

The most amazing experience from start to finish. We stayed in Room 46, and the view was absolutely incredible. Truly one of those moments you don’t forget. The staff were top-notch and went above and beyond at every turn. Their attention to detail and genuine hospitality made the stay feel extra special. They even provided nightly turndown service, which was such a thoughtful touch and made coming back to the room each evening feel luxurious. The rooms themselves were beautiful, bright, white, spotless, and just truly really nice. Everything felt fresh, comfortable, and well cared for. The complimentary breakfast was outstanding, fresh, delicious, and a perfect way to start each day on their outdoor terrace looking at the beach. The buffet included freshly squeezed orange juice made right there, which was such a great touch, and even free Prosecco, which made it feel extra special. The location couldn’t have been better, especially for accessing the ferries. Not having to climb steep hills (especially with luggage) made a huge difference and added to the overall ease of the trip. One tip: book directly through the hotel’s website if you can, you get additional perks that make the experience even better. Honestly, we couldn’t have asked for a nicer hotel. Highly recommend and would absolutely stay here again.

Annual AnniversaryTrip

This was our eighth time staying at Buca di Baco and I would never stay anywhere else when visiting Positano. This is a beautiful hotel with beautiful views. But what makes it even more special is the staff and the service. Everyone is so welcoming and they treat us like family. Everyone goes out of their way to make sure your stay is the best. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Positano. So to Mario, Salvatore, Cotello and everyone - to all the staff- thanks for making our anniversary trips so special for the past eight years. I do so hope we can return next year!

'Hotel Buca di Bacco is a historic hotel in the town of Positano, right at the start of the Amalfi Coast. Blessed with splendid beaches, lapped by a crystal clear sea, Positano is famous for its maze of brightly colored cottages and pretty churches, all of which cling to the rock face, forming what is often referred to as the vertical city. Providing an ideal base from where to explore the other towns on the Amalfi Coast, Hotel Buca di Bacco lies within easy reach of Praiano, Furore, Maiori, Minori, Conca dei Marini and Amalfi, all of which are just a short car or boat ride away.
