  2. A dreamy infinity pool
  3. The restaurant's excellent traditional cuisine
Address
Via Regina Giovanna, 5 - Positano

There are few hotels on the Amalfi Coast that better represent the essence of this magical stretch of seaside - its bright colors, resort atmosphere, flower scented breeze, and easy elegance - than the Covo dei Saraceni, a five star hotel in Positano with suites and terraces overlooking the Mediterranean, sumptuous traditional dishes served in the restaurant, and scenic swimming pools.

The Colors of Positano

Stepping into the rooms and suites of the Covo dei Saraceni is like entering an elegant Mediterranean home. The interiors are furnished with care in the unique Amalfi Coast style, including lively majolica tiles from Vietri in the bathrooms, but with the maximum of luxury and comfort. Each suite has its own private pool on the outdoor terrace. It's like a dream come true!

Two swimming pools, one of which an infinity pool looking over the sea, beach, and colorful houses of Positano. Both are surrounded by comfortable loungers and sun beds, and have heated water in the cooler months. What could be better?

The Best of Amalfi Cuisine

A vacation on the Amalfi Coast isn't complete without a generous sampling of the famed local cuisine. For this reason, Covo dei Saraceni takes it upon themselves to provide guests a veritable gastronomic paradise.
The Covo dei Saraceni restaurant has a jaw-dropping view, but even that isn't enough to distract from the parade of dishes coming out of their gourmet kitchen. Made with the best ingredients from the Amalfi Coast and presented with care, accompanied by a bottle of wine from their large cellar. The hotel also boasts a poolside cafe for a light lunch or dinner al fresco, or La Brasserie on the beach for a quick bite of Positano's best pizza in between dips in the sea.

A Wonderful Stay

Perfect location by the ferry port. Only 10 steps to the hotel. Excellent staff. Shout out to Lisa at Guest Relations, Sav, Giuseppe and Vincenzo at breakfast and to all the wonderful staff who are far too many to list. Also to Marco at Cala Marinai and to the waiter who served us at Savino, whose name we can’t remember. Lovely hotel with a great view out to the sea and back up to Positano. No sooner had we arrived in our room, a waiter arrived with a cold bottle of Prosecco and two glasses. We really enjoyed the Prosecco. The mini bar was also complimentary as were three small jars of savoury and sweet items. This was a really nice touch. Very generous with their complimentary water in the room too. Room no. 22 was tiny. You could barely swing a cat in it. The bathroom was small but manageable. No windows. The shower was tiny but the water pressure excellent. There was no space around the basin to keep your products on. A wall heater that you could switch on to dry your towels on. Excellent plush towels, thick toilet paper and cotton vanity pads that don’t disintegrate the minute you try using them. The one redeeming feature of this room was a small anteroom off the balcony which was extremely handy, with a table and two chairs. It was also the only place we could place our luggage in. Sufficient hanging space and three drawers which you needed to jiggle to open. No bedside tables to speak of, just a tiny little wedge of a shelf. USB and USB-C outlets on either side of the bed which were very handy. Mattress was sagging slightly and definitely in need of replacement but we slept well enough. No Nespresso machine to speak of in the room, only that horrible instant coffee which no doubt Americans would love! No recycling bins in the room which was a great shame. Breakfast was really aimed at the Italian, American and British palette. Cereals full of sugar and salt and an unhealthy lumpy so called muesli. The obligatory cold meat and cheese selection and an over abundance of cakes. Bain Marie’s with scrambled eggs, fried eggs, bacon, potatoes and mushrooms. No baked beans unfortunately. You could also ask them to make an omelette or poached eggs for you. There were also boled eggs. As for anything resembling raw or healthy offerings, they were extremely limited. Lettuce, rocket, mixed leaf and tomatoes. Some ricotta too which was actually very good. But there should have have been more variety such as cucumbers, capsicum, avocado, hummus, etc. Thankfully low fat yoghurt was available as was fresh fruit which was excellent. We ate at both Savino and Cala Marinai and the food was excellent as was the service with great views, but the serving size of the meals was on the small side at both restaurants. The pizza at Cala Marinai was outstanding and a very decent size. We also loved the space around the Coquille Cocktail Bar which was light, bright and airy. Lovely pool on the upper floor but unfortunately we didn’t get the chance to enjoy it due to the bad weather. No gym unfortunately. This is an old style hotel that uses actual keys for the rooms which you’re asked to leave at reception on your way out. That was fine, but I found it interesting that when you came back and asked for your room key, reception staff didn’t ask you to confirm your surname. I think it’s important that they do so. All in all we had a wonderful stay in an excellent location with outstanding service.

My husband and I booked our stay here at the insistence of our travel agent and she definitely made the right call! The location simply could not be better. It is right on the water and next to the main dock where ferries and excursion boats are. This provides easy access to Capri, Salerno, Naples and all other points along the coast. The room was a little cozy, but everything worked and it was just fine for the two of us. There was a nice balcony overlooking the beach and ocean...and we were greeted with a bottle of prosecco compliments of the staff upon arrival. The staff was excellent and very helpful. We booked a wine tasting offered by the on-premise restaurant and it was run very well by the restaurant staff. We had dinner there one night as well and the food was very good. Pro tip: Below the hotel is a small brasserie that has phenomenal pizza, so if you want a change of pace from the higher end restaurants around town, it is a great change of pace. Plus, the gelato is good too. We definitely want to do a special call out to Lisa at the hotel. She greeted us upon check-in and served as our unofficial ambassador each day. She would ask what we did the day before and ask if there was anything she could do to possibly help make our plans for the day better. We enjoyed her thoughtful and attentive service. It was a nice touch above and beyond the great service the entire staff gave us. Thank you! We just don't know how you can go wrong with choosing Covo Dei Saraceni for your stay in Positano. We say again...just perfect!

Amazing 3 day weekend trip to Positano and stayed in this ideally located hotel - hotel is ideally located by port (don't let that put you off) with great views and old style 5 star glamour. Wonderful restaurant overlooking the sea and we found it extremely easy walking up and around Positano

We are very happy to have enjoyed this hotel. It 100% met our expectations in terms of kindness and good disposition of its people. At reception very willing to satisfy us and make us feel very comfortable. The location of the hotel is second to none, it is the best in Positano with its wonderful views from the room and from the backward pool, to the city and the Sea. Restaurants with gastronomy would say 10 points. It is also at the foot of the beach where you can rent umbrellas and loungers and are located at the foot of the sea and many typical restaurants. I want to highlight the cleanliness and order that is excellent.
