Not worth it

Beautiful restaurant and lovely staff, but it was very one-note. I had the Signature and the particular servings that evening were all salty or fishy. Maybe I was expecting too much from a Michelin Star restaurant, but I did leave disappointed. We won’t return.

Epic Meal and Gracious Hospitality

The winding journey up the mountain from Sorrento was well worth it. We visited the 25,000 bottle wine cellar, had spumante in the library, and the 'traditional' prix fixe meal in the stunning white dining room. The chef and owners greeted us and discussed the property and the food, which was exquisite. There was ample time to savor the many beautiful and tasty courses, although the successive desserts took us late int the night.

A tour de force

We first visited Don Alfonso during Easter 2001 on the recommendation of a local taxi driver, and were entranced by the restaurant and the "Black Parade" as the lights dimmed and celebrants moved slowly down the street outside while we dined. Returning after 24 years felt like coming home - we were welcomed and given a tour of the property (recently refurbished external dining areas/gardens and boutique hotel accommodation being the additions), and then seated at a corner table to begin our culinary journey. We chose the Menu Degustazione with wine paring, admittedly an adventurous and extravagant choice, but were duly rewarded with cuisine of exceptional quality and imagination. The simplicity and provenance of the ingredients shine through the captivating combinations in each dish - the "terroir" if you will featuring proudly. Every member of staff gave graciously of their time and attention, and we were honoured to receive a tour of the kitchen after our meal. This is a place of tradition, care and great quality, and we hope to return again soon enough!

Outstanding dinner

After all these years - a very pleasant experience. We were here in 1999 and again in 2018, so this was our third visit, as in 2018 on Friday in the Easter. The food is excellent - of course this is an expensive restaurant to spend a night, but it is something different fro most other restaurants. You feel wellcome, the Iaccarino family wellcome you and you are served a meal that is extrordinary. During the dinner we could watch the Easter parade just outside the restaurant, and after dinner we had a guided tour of the fascinating wine cellar - 400 years old. Coming back is a lifetime experience - hopefully we will be back once more....

Map

At the centre of the lovely village of Sant'Agata sui Due Golfi, (so-named because it sits astride the two spectacular gulfs of Naples and Salerno) is a small cluster of houses that date from the nineteenth century. The restaurant occupies the central building, and is surrounded by five luxurious suites for our guests to stay in. Instead, our country farm is situated in the village of Termini- far from S. Agata sui due Golfi about 5 km-in front of Capri Island.
By motorway: Who comes here by car, should follow the motorway Napoli-Salerno until the exit of Castellamare di Stabia and then the directions Penisola Sorrentina. At Meta di Sorrento it's necessary to follow sign posts for Positano and - after 6 km - turn right to S. Agata sui due Golfi.
By train from Naples: At Naples' station - called Piazza Garibaldi - you could take the Circumvesuviana's trains and in about an hour you will arrive in Sorrento. Once there, in 15 minutes by taxi you would be in S. Agata sui due Golfi.
By hydrofoil from Naples' port - Molo Beverello - you could arrive in Sorrento in 30 minutes, once there you just could continue by taxi until S. Agata sui due Golfi.
Other ways from Positano and Sorrento: Besides the excellent taxi's services, that we sincerely suggest, at lunch you could come here by buses (SITA, Circumvesuviana).
