Ristorante Antico Borgo

Stayed 6 nights in Pontone, dined 3 nights. What a lovely restaurant. Staff exceptional! We had 1 server, seems to be the only one working. He was very kind, professional and helpful. Mussels, caprese salad, cod, pizza and of couse the complimentary limoncello were all awesome! Highly recommend.

A place with a fabulous location, with a view between two mountains to the sea. All the food from beginning to end was excellent, friendly service and kindness; I'm still licking my lips thinking about the pasta with squid.

I rarely give a bad review but unfortunately lunch at Ristorante Antico Borgo, Pontone - Salerno, was the worst meal that I have ever had. Cold pizza, with a dreadful dry potato salad (what a combination - pizza & potato), rubbery old mozzarella, washed down with a wine that tasted like vinegar. My wife's meal was even worse - hard, cold and dry penne pasta. We did eat it as we were hungry but regretted it later when we both were feeling sick and had to take a remedy. There were only 12 people in our group and nobody else was in the restaurant at the time so no reason for the food to be cold. Maybe just a bad day in the kitchen, but seeing other similar reviews, there seems to be a pattern. Italian cuisine is usually outstanding so suggest don't bother to eat at this place as there are better choices.

We ate very well from start to finish! Evocative location overlooking the mountains and the sea. Excellent food quality, both seafood and land-based. Highly recommended place!
