Pompeii, Vesuvius and Herculaneum Private Tour

The tour was so full of amazing sights and scenery that it is difficult to include it all…but let me start with the genuine care and attention that our driver, Vincenzo showed the four of us on our tour from pick up at our hotel in Roma to drop off over 14-hours later! What a tour! Vincenzo was not only our excellent driver…but he was also an experienced tour guide giving us many detailed facts and showing us points of interest along the route to the Amalfi Coast. We would stop along the way to take photos (see attached) and around every turn seemed a new point of interest that Vincenzo would describe. Vincenzo was very patient with us as we asked him countless questions as well. The 3-hour drive from Rome to our first stop in Positano seem to fly by with the scenic views along the way including the famous Mount Vesuvius. The spacious and comfortable Mercedes van was truly a luxury form of transportation for our adventure tour. The vehicle was spotless and polished inside and out. We were offered cold water and snacks and also stopped for breaks and caffe along the route to make our journey even more enjoyable. Positano was magical as well…with its narrow colorful streets filled with wonderful shops and people as well as the occasional car that drove carefully down the winding path. Vincenzo briefed us on what and where to go in Positano and escorted us to a starting and meeting point before allowing us to explore on our own. He also gave us his phone number and invited us to call him anytime with questions we might have during our walk thru Positano. After we got back in the Mercedes, my wife asked Vincenzo if he knew where we could eat that had Spaghetti alla Nerano, a dish that Stanley Tucci (actor and chef) promoted on his TV show. Vincenzo did better than that…he made reservations for us at the restaurant that is known for the dish in Nerano…Ristorante il Cantuccio Nerano. He drove us to the town of Nerano along the way to Sorrento. It was Mother’s Day and the ristorante was booked solid…but Vincenzo worked his magic, made a call and got us a reservation at the exact time we arrived in town. Not only did we get a reservation but it was a premium table next to a window with an unobstructed view overlooking the water! Unbelievable view and best restaurant service we have ever had! Food did not disappoint! Spaghetti alla Nerano was off the charts! The appetizers and main course of sea bass were the best as well. All wait staff and manager/host made us feel like the locals who packed the ristorante on Mother’s Day. Just when we thought we had already had a full days worth of memories of the Amalfi Coast we once again got into the Mercedes and soon after arrived in Sorrento. Sorrento was a unique town with wide walking streets with one great shop and ristorante and caffe shop after another. Truly memorable. We will definitely return to the Amalfi Coast and stay a few nights in Positano and Sorrento! This is our second tour with Joe Banana Limos and Travel tours and look forward to our next adventure with them! Vincenzo, our driver was a fond memory and experience all by himself. Many tours have both a driver and tour guide because both functions are so important. But Vincenzo was both driver and tour guide and exceeded all our expectations of experience and professionalism! We had the most amazing time on our tour of the Amalfi coast! Danilo was our driver and we instantly became fast friends. As we drove from town to town he provided interesting facts about the places we saw and places we were going to. We grooved to music and once he found out that I was a photographer, he tailored the sights and stops to key places to get the best photos. The vehicle was clean and comfortable. I cannot recommend a better company and a better driver, guide and new found friend! I can’t wait for my next trip back and I am definitely requesting Danilo the next time we are back!!

This day could not have been more perfect! Our driver, Catello, was warm, friendly, knowledgeable and made our enjoyment his only priority. We hadn’t secured the tickets well in advance, which you must do, but the company, Anna and Marie with Joe Banana, quickly helped us secure tickets the day before, and our day was saved. While on tour, Catello took us to a perfect local restaurant overlooking a lemon farm at the base of Vesuvius. He was even able to make some magic and found a terrific guide, Pierpaolo, to guide us thru Pompeii! Our day was ideal! We could not have asked for a better team to customize our experience.
