How long does it take to get to Capri from the Naples port?
By high-speed ferry, about an hour; by speedboat, 40 minutes.
If my hotel is located in a pedestrian area, how can I arrange a transfer?
Where possible, transfers are provided by taxi. However, many hotels in the center of Capri and Anacapri are in pedestrian areas, so the final let must be completed on foot. Your luggage will be transported directly to your hotel.
What time does the last ferry to Capri depart?
From June to September the final ferry from Naples to Capri departs at 9:00pm. The remaining months of the year, the last ferry departs at 7:00pm. If you are arriving in late evening, you will have to book a private transfer by speedboat, or spend the night on the mainland.
My flight lands in the late afternoon. How can I be sure to catch the last ferry?
Generally, you need to allow for at least an hour between your flight arrival time at the Naples airport and the ferry departure time for Capri; in normal traffic conditions, the drive between the Naples airport and Molo Beverello is 30 minutes. From the Rome airport to Naples, allow for at least 3 hours by car. Remember that the baggage reclaim at Fiumicino is notoriously slow.
What happens in case of rough seas?
If seas are so rough that boat crossings are suspended, our partners will advise you as soon as possible and help you find accommodations on the mainland; your transfer will be moved to the next day. It is extremely rare that crossings are suspended between April and October, as the sea conditions are generally calm during those months.
Do I need to book my ferry ticket myself?
No, ferry tickets are included in the price of the transfer and will be provided by your driver, who will take you directly to the pier.
Getting to the Amalfi Coast stress-free has never been easier!
There is no direct route by public transportation between Naples and the Amalfi Coast: if you are landing at the Naples airport, you have to take a bus to Sorrento and then transfer to another fro Positano or Amalfi. The trip takes at least three hours.
If you are arriving at the Naples train station, you need to take the local Circumvesuviana line from Naples to Sorrento and from there the Sita bus from Sorrento to Positano. The Circumvesuviana is a commuter train and not set up for long trips (it can take over an hour to get from Naples to Sorrento). You will probably have to stand for most of the trip. There are no escalators from the ground floor of the train station in Naples to the Circumvesuviana platform underground. In addition, Sita buses are always very crowded, especially in summer, so often there is no seating. Often there is quite a distance between the bus stop and your hotel in Positano, meaning you have to walk carrying your luggage!
The best option for a simple and easy arrival is to book a private transfer
With public transportation, the cost of the entire trip is about €30/person, and takes about 2 hours.
Private transfers include pick up at the Naples airport or train station and car or minivan transfer to your hotel. The trip takes about 1.5 hours.
If you were planning on visiting the ruins of Pompeii during your time on the Amalfi Coast, consider booking a transfer than includes a stop at the archaeological site to make the most of your time!
Why do you suggest booking a private transfer rather than renting a car?
Navigating the roads around Naples and the Amalfi Coast is not a simple endeavor for those who are not used to narrow, curving roads with heavy traffic. Getting around the Coast by car can be complicated and costly: there is limited parking and it's expensive: figure about €5/hour.
If my flight arrives in the evening, can I make it to the Amalfi Coast on the same day?
Public transport service to the Amalfi Coast runs until about 9pm. If your flight lands in the evening, the only way to reach the coast is by booking a private transfer.
Do the drivers speak English?
All the car service companies vetted by Positano.com have drivers who speak English and a number of other languages.
Will the driver wait if my flight or train is delayed?
Yes, the driver has your flight or train number and keeps track of any delays and will be waiting for you upon arrival.
Can I request an infant car seat?
Yes, car seats are available upon request and at no additional cost from all the car service companies.
Can I request to stop along the route?
Yes, you can book a transfer with a stop at Pompeii, which is a great way to optimize your time and budget.
Your credit card will not be charged upon booking.
We loved this service! Our driver waited for our delayed flight to land, and met us outside the arrivals terminal holding a sign with our name on it. While we drove to the Amalfi Coast, he shared some great tips that made our arrival and our stay just that much more memorable. We would absolutely use this service again in the future!Jacquelyn J.
This transfer from Naples to Amalfi with a stop in Pompeii was a lifesaver. We were picked up directly at the Naples airport after a long flight, stopped at the ruins without having to worry about our bags, and were able to call the driver when we were ready to move on so he could come pick us up at the exit. We were able to scratch one of our top sights off the list on the very first day of our vacation.Louise V.
I was so happy that I booked this private transfer from Naples to Positano! The other option was a train and then a bus to the Amalfi Coast...in the heat and with all our luggage. It was such a relief to meet our driver directly at the station at relax in the car on the way. He gave us some excellent tips and advice on local sights and restaurants, and we enjoyed our trip even more by following his advice! Will M.
