Positano Dreaming...

  1. Rooms with hot tubs, terraces with private pools, and Positano at your feet
  2. A dreamy infinity pool
  3. The restaurant's excellent traditional cuisine
Address
Via Regina Giovanna, 5 - Positano

There are few hotels on the Amalfi Coast that better represent the essence of this magical stretch of seaside - its bright colors, resort atmosphere, flower scented breeze, and easy elegance - than the Covo dei Saraceni, a five star hotel in Positano with suites and terraces overlooking the Mediterranean, sumptuous traditional dishes served in the restaurant, and scenic swimming pools.

The Colors of Positano

Stepping into the rooms and suites of the Covo dei Saraceni is like entering an elegant Mediterranean home. The interiors are furnished with care in the unique Amalfi Coast style, including lively majolica tiles from Vietri in the bathrooms, but with the maximum of luxury and comfort. Each suite has its own private pool on the outdoor terrace. It's like a dream come true!

Two swimming pools, one of which an infinity pool looking over the sea, beach, and colorful houses of Positano. Both are surrounded by comfortable loungers and sun beds, and have heated water in the cooler months. What could be better?

The Best of Amalfi Cuisine

A vacation on the Amalfi Coast isn't complete without a generous sampling of the famed local cuisine. For this reason, Covo dei Saraceni takes it upon themselves to provide guests a veritable gastronomic paradise.
The Covo dei Saraceni restaurant has a jaw-dropping view, but even that isn't enough to distract from the parade of dishes coming out of their gourmet kitchen. Made with the best ingredients from the Amalfi Coast and presented with care, accompanied by a bottle of wine from their large cellar. The hotel also boasts a poolside cafe for a light lunch or dinner al fresco, or La Brasserie on the beach for a quick bite of Positano's best pizza in between dips in the sea.

Attractive area, frustrating stay

We wanted to like Covo Dei Saraceni so much. We had heard a lot about it from a friend and he raved about it. The location is fine, but there's a trade-off: closer to the water is convenient to the beach and the ferries, but not as great a view as from higher up. It is also well into the pedestrian zone and difficult to access by vehicle, especially if you have luggage. Pricing is very steep: $10 to launder a pair of socks? Manageable, but still surprising. The hotel is old, and the footprint is annoying: to get to the sixth floor, you need to take two different elevators that are located in different parts of the hotel. Biggest issue was the lack of support from the staff. My wife was struggling with her back pack when we arrived, trying to get up the entry steps, but no one moved to help. Sympathy, yes; assistance, not really. When we asked at the pool whether there was a bar with a television, we were told there was not. We later learned that there was, but apparently the staff we talked with didn't know about it. The major issue was the assistance the hotel failed to provide in arranging a tour of the Pompeii ruins. The hotel booked a driver and guide in advance for us, but their confirmation of the arrangements had the wrong time and price. The driver picked us up long before the tour guide was available, so he killed time by taking us to see something else, where his friends were hanging out. After he had killed enough time, he then charged us an additional fee for his services: as the tour started late, it also ended late. The hotel did nothing to resolve the dispute, except to wash their hands of it, saying essentially it was our problem, not theirs. So, it was a frustrating stay. It is a premium hotel and has the pricing to prove it. But the service that we were provided was useless, making it difficult to recommend Covo Dei Saraceni to any other guests.

Covo was great!

The room was perfect, with a beautiful view of both the water and the coast. The location was perfect for water transportation, which is the best way to go from place to place in the Amalfi coast. The staff was excellent from the front desk, to the pool, to housekeeping to the concierge. It was my fifth trip to the area, but my first time staying at Covo dei saraceni. I will definitely stay there on my future trips.

Too short a stop in Positano

Today we arrived in Positano for a shore excursion off of Silversea Silver Ray. The day was going to be long but the stop at Covo Dei Saraceni saved the day. What a stunning hotel right in the water and up from the chaos. What made the afternoon especially great was the assistance to entertain us and help us relax by the team of Domenico and Sofia. We will stay here next time we come to Positano and we will come a little off season. The lunch was also amazing. Hard to please a group of 40.

Gorgeous seaside hotel with everything at your fingertips!

We absolutely loved our stay at Covo dei Saraceni. Our family has traveled to Positano several times before, and Covo dei Saraceni is by far our favorite now! Located right near the beach and port we had easy access to boats, shops, restaurants, and everything Positano has to offer (without having to climb stairs at the end of an evening!). Covo dei Saraceni assisted us with a transfer from the Naples train station to Positano, and we made our way down to the hotel from where the pedestrian area starts. We traveled as a group of 7, including two children ages 9 and 10. My youngest daughter loved swimming in the pool overlooking the seaside. Our rooms looked out at the sea and were extremely comfortable. When we had to take our oldest daughter to urgent care, the hotel staff went above and beyond to help us get the right care and frequently checked in with us to see how she was doing. The hotel's dining offerings were incredible (we did breakfast, room service, restaurant, and lounge service), and all staff were courteous and friendly. When we checked out, we rolled our bags a short way to the port and took the ferry to Naples. We cannot say enough about how wonderful our stay was. We will be back!
