There are few hotels on the Amalfi Coast that better represent the essence of this magical stretch of seaside - its bright colors, resort atmosphere, flower scented breeze, and easy elegance - than the Covo dei Saraceni, a five star hotel in Positano with suites and terraces overlooking the Mediterranean, sumptuous traditional dishes served in the restaurant, and scenic swimming pools.

The Colors of Positano

Stepping into the rooms and suites of the Covo dei Saraceni is like entering an elegant Mediterranean home. The interiors are furnished with care in the unique Amalfi Coast style, including lively majolica tiles from Vietri in the bathrooms, but with the maximum of luxury and comfort. Each suite has its own private pool on the outdoor terrace. It's like a dream come true!

Two swimming pools, one of which an infinity pool looking over the sea, beach, and colorful houses of Positano. Both are surrounded by comfortable loungers and sun beds, and have heated water in the cooler months. What could be better?

The Best of Amalfi Cuisine

A vacation on the Amalfi Coast isn't complete without a generous sampling of the famed local cuisine. For this reason, Covo dei Saraceni takes it upon themselves to provide guests a veritable gastronomic paradise.
The Covo dei Saraceni restaurant has a jaw-dropping view, but even that isn't enough to distract from the parade of dishes coming out of their gourmet kitchen. Made with the best ingredients from the Amalfi Coast and presented with care, accompanied by a bottle of wine from their large cellar. The hotel also boasts a poolside cafe for a light lunch or dinner al fresco, or La Brasserie on the beach for a quick bite of Positano's best pizza in between dips in the sea.

Amazing property

This is one of the nicest properties we have stayed at, the views of the hillside homes and sea views cannot be beat anywhere in the world. The rooms are not giant, but they all have balconies and sea views. The staff is friendly and very helpful and there is tons of shopping and walking to do. The hotel is literally on the very best spot in Positano that you could get all the way down at the water so that once you’re here you do not have to worry about long walks down to the sea . We rented a little speedboat for a couple of hours and drove all the way down to the town of the mall and back so that is also a fun idea. 2 to 4 nights in this town is perfect for us and definitely should be done at some point.

From the moment we stepped off the ferry and entered the hotel it was clear that this was a special place. We were in Positano to celebrate my Birthday and our Wedding Anniversary and ahead of our arrival also decided to upgrade to a Junior Exec Suite and the room was fab with the most amazing views of Positano. The 10th floor pool areas was wonderful and great staff throughout.

Not a 5-Star Experience

Overall, we had a pleasant stay. The hotel had an old-world charm, but it didn't quite meet the expectations of a five-star experience. The rooms were outdated, with chipped tiles and a small shower that was uncomfortable to access and move in. The water temperature did not regulate easily. It certainly wasn't luxurious. Additionally, the blow dryer required you to hold down a button the entire time, and lacked power, making it less than ideal, especially for someone with a substantial amount of hair. This added to the lack of convenience in the less-than-ideal bathroom. On the positive side, the staff was very attentive (shout out to Giuseppe) and the breakfast was wonderful. The view is breathtaking, and pictures do not do the iconic views justice. However, it's important to note that cars cannot access the hotel directly. As a result, guests are dropped off about an eight-minute walk downhill, which can be a challenge since you have to walk back uphill upon checkout. You also need to arrange for porter service to handle your bags, which costs $10.00 per bag. Our driver called the hotel beforehand, and they quoted $8.00, but we were charged $10.00 instead. This isn't the standard one would expect from a five-star hotel, and considering the price of the rooms, porter service should be included, with guests only needing to tip for the delivery of their bags. Overall, this was quite disappointing. Additionally, the area was overcrowded, with large crowds navigating the narrow market streets. Directly below the hotel are the ferries, which bring in hordes of people coming and going, along with gas fumes that are quite unpleasant.

Unforgettable! We had a fantastic time. The location, accommodation, staff, food- breakfast, lunch & dinner provided quality produce. We loved the pool, it’s well staffed & maintained with consistent service & attention. The servicing of the room, cleanliness, bedding, towels etc were all 10/10. We loved our large balcony which offered a fabulous view with sun lounges & table/chairs to watch the people & enjoy great gelato from downstairs. Guys well done, we’ll be back. 🇦🇺💙
