Little gem of a hotel in the mountains

I stayed here with my son, age 18 and we had a room with a double bed and a single bed which was actually a single sofa bed. The room had a small balcony with a lovely view. This hotel is in the hills away from Amalfi town in an area called Furore. It has a lovely outdoor area for breakfast and a beautiful lemon garden restaurant. It is about 15 min drive from Amalfi town. We both slept well although there was a fishing light in the room, I think from the fire alarm so eye masks are recommended. The breakfast was very nice and all the staff and the owner was very helpful and pleasant. A taxi from Amalfi town will cost EUR100 and a bus will cost EUR2.50. However, the town even in October is VERY busy and the buses are not sign posted and there are no visible timetables which makes catching a bus very stressful. We ended up staying in the town and had dinner until the crowds had died down but it was still a scramble and everyone was pushing to get on what was the last bus up the hill. If the transport was not such a problem I would stay here again but the access to the hotel would put me off, I dread to think what it would be like high season. We called the owner when we got off the bus in Furore and he kindly picked us up. When we left the next morning we had to get a bus back to Amalfi to get on our water taxi to Positano but a bus went past full and we had to wait for the next bus which luckily wasn't too long but there were other people waiting who had been there a while and they said the buses kept going past full. The ambience of the hotel is very nice and it felt relaxing and safe, in the hills with amazing views but not too far from the main town and port. The hotel was quiet at night.

The most wonderful 7 days in an absolute paradise of a family run hotel. The owner Pino greeted us late when we arrived, along with one of his staff members. I am really terrible with names, but every one we encountered at the hotel were the most warm, wonderful and friendly people you could hope to meet, including the cats!! We stayed in room a'nasella which had a parking space just a few steps away, there is a larger car park near reception, but this is a walk down a hill/road, or down 76 steps! The room had a wonderful balcony with 2 chairs, a table and a wonderful view of the valley to the left, and then in front the sea. The room was perfectly appointed with a wardrobe, comfortable bed, two bedside tables with lamps, dressing table with a safe on top(free!) topped off with a smart TV. Wifi was free and plenty fast enough. The bathroom was the same, sink, toilet, bidet and an enclosed corner shower that was lovely after a hard days walking. Decoration of both rooms was in keeping with the rustic and Italian charm of these types of property, the room was cleaned daily and cleaned well. Breakfast was typical Mediterranean fare, cold meats, tomatoes, eggs, cold omelets, toasted bread, and local cornflakes. Also a great selection of warm pastries and the most wonderful chocolate cake and vanilla cake. Orange or apple juice, water, topped off with what ever type of coffee you wanted, freshly ground and brewed as the Italians know how to do. We didnt eat lunch at the hotel, and only ate once in the evening, which was delicious and reasonable. The hotel offers a shuttle minibus every couple of hours down into Amalfi so that you can catch a ferry to one of the other wonderful coastal towns... it is 3euro one way, which although more expensive than a local bus is far more civilized! This is a perfect base with amalfi just a short shuttle away with all the ferrys to Sorrento, Positano, Capri, Salerno etc. We drove to the hotel from Naples airport which takes around 80 minutes. Dont expect to be able to drive fast as once you are out of Naples the roads are windy. You dont need a big car, in fact i would suggest a small one as it is easier to drive/ squeeze the sometimes narrow roads I would go back tomorrow to this hotel and heartily recommend that you go check this out for yourself.

Ci ritorneremo sicuramente
