The place is beautiful, but the food is deceptive. We ordered a roast of meat that had no meat, and a pasta with dust that came without dust. It is for tourists who want to be deluded with the beauty of the local nature. We wanted to eat a dessert, but we did not ask not to disappoint us anymore.

The only great thing here worth more than 2 stars is the location and some of the staff. The food was subpar, especially for the prices. I get al dente pasta, but mine was bordering on crunchy with little flavor. And what was most frustrating was getting there when the restaurant was completely empty and getting told I can’t have an edge table because of reservations. Mind you, I had a reservation I made months in advance and the tables we asked to move to sat empty the entire time we had dinner. It also said to make any special request, which I did, considering I am here on my honeymoon. After the meal, I asked how it was determined who got the front row seats and I was told it was requested in the reservations and made in advance… so exactly what I did! We heard a group next to us who got a front table mention they made their reservation just DAYS before when mine was made months in advance. Our waiters were great and they did nothing wrong. The location is beautiful but you either pay a “cover charge” for a better table or hope you are a favorite of the day for a better table. It also does say on their website no seats are guaranteed, so why were they “reserved” for certain groups and not first come first served? If you’re lucky, the experience could be good, but I say save your money and time. Visit the beach and take some pictures but find one of the other local spots that’s have much much better food.

This place is an absolute tourist trap and a complete waste of money for anyone visiting the Amalfi Coast. The prices are outrageously high for mediocre food and some of the worst service I’ve experienced traveling anywhere in the world. The worst part was the service. Multiple items were added to our bill that we never ordered. When we politely asked for it to be corrected, the server who seemed to be the manager walking around with an iPad pretending to be someone responded with, “Where are you from? Clearly not here.” Instead of professionally fixing the mistake and bringing a new receipt, he aggressively scratched a giant X across the bill and wrote a new total on it. We are staying at Hotel Onda Verde directly above this restaurant and have received exceptional service at their bar and restaurant Franchino. Save your money and go upstairs instead. Pirata restaurant is an absolute joke. The location is the only thing that stands out about this place. The atmosphere is fake and overproduced loud American hip-hop music with firecrackers every 10 minutes trying to convince tourists they’re having a luxury experience when they’re not.
