La Sponda

Had the opportunity to having dinner at La Sponda in my anniversary trip. Service was no good was wonderful Pascual our server offers a different experience. Food was delicious, ambiance 10 out of 10 and the guy that plays guitar and sign by your table makes the experience unforgettable. Regarding price honesty don’t recall how much we paid but honestly is the least part you won’t remember that.

La Sponda delivers a complete Positano dream‑dining experience — exquisite seafood dishes, attentive service, and that iconic postcard‑perfect cliffside view that glows at sunset. So let's start off by saying the current main picture on trip advisor is not La Sponda (at least according to restaurant staff on the night we were there). The outdoor area is a separate bar / restaurant. La Sponda is only indoors. So just keep that in mind if you want to dine al fresco in Positano. Moving on to the restaurant itself ; like many of the popular places in Positano, this restaurant has an aggravatingly high minimum spend if you are not a hotel guest. While I recognize the need for restaurants to make money and not be filled with instagrammers ordering a glass of wine and leaving after an hour, the levels here are egregiously high (I think it was 160 euros per person), forcing you to order multiple cocktails or the most expensive things on the menu to hit it. So come hungry or thirsty I guess. The views and interior are beautiful (views are not necessarily unique to this restaurant, but beautiful) with lovely large windows even though you are indoors. The interior does photograph slightly better than it looks in person. Honestly, I was prepared to be disappointed by the food but it was actually very good, as were the cocktails. Reasonably priced too for fine dining at a super nice hotel in the area, which unfortunately only makes the minimum spend that much more aggravating. Service was also pleasant and the pair of musicians serenading the tables were actually fun.

From the moment we arrived, every detail reflected elegance, precision, and genuine Italian hospitality. The live music created a magical atmosphere that perfectly complemented the breathtaking setting, making the entire evening feel truly special. The wine selection is exceptional, featuring an extensive cellar with outstanding Italian and international labels, making it easy to find the perfect pairing for every course. Seafood lovers will appreciate the impressive oyster selection, with three different categories available, each showcasing remarkable freshness and quality. The pasta dishes were beautifully prepared, with authentic flavors, perfect texture, and impeccable presentation. To finish, the desserts were unforgettable. The lemon soufflé was light, fragrant, and perfectly balanced, while the traditional baba was elevated by an elegant presentation featuring four different rum selections, allowing guests to customize the experience to their taste. Service throughout the evening was warm, attentive, and flawlessly professional without ever feeling intrusive. Every member of the team contributed to creating an atmosphere of refined luxury and comfort. La Sponda is far more than just a restaurant—it’s a destination that combines extraordinary cuisine, an exceptional wine program, live music, and impeccable hospitality into one unforgettable experience. Without hesitation, this is a well-deserved five-star restaurant and one of the finest dining experiences in Positano. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a truly memorable evening.
