La Tagliata

We had a reservation for 7pm. We were picked up near our hotel by the restaurant shuttle which is the only way we would have gone. We were given a table with a beautiful view and the family style meal began promptly. I loved the vegetable dishes. Simple and delicious. The meat was also delicious but perhaps a bit tough, which we have found common in much of Italy and Spain. The meal was 60 euro each and included 2 bottle of wine. For a meal with such a view and a free ride, amazing. Getting the shuttle to leave was a bit difficult but overall this was a great experience.

Hands down the worst dining experience we’ve had in all of Italy. The service was a complete joke—we sat for 25 minutes without even a glass of water until we literally had to chase down a waiter. The so-called “bread”were stale, hard rolls that no Italian grandmother would ever serve. Every course that followed was just as bad, proving only one thing—this place is consistently terrible. The gimmick of “Grandma’s traditional kitchen” is nothing more than false advertising. To top it off, the bathrooms reeked. Save yourself the money and the disappointment—Positano has far too many incredible restaurants to waste your time here.

The food and service were wonderful. We had an amazing time. At the end of our meal, they offered to call us a taxi and we said yes because the bus only runs every hour. DO NOT take the taxi they offer, just wait on the bus. We accepted the taxi and it was an unmarked Mercedes. The trip back to Positano center was 50€. That’s insane. Don’t accept the “taxi”, just wait on the bus.

Still one of our favorite restaurants in the world!! No menu- just grandma and staff cooking in the kitchen. Very well priced for all the food you get!! Vegetarian option as well. Veggies and a lot (if not all) of the ingredients are from their own farm. Will be back again and always recommend to our friends.
