Lo Scoglio

The restaurant’s beautifully located above Marina del Cantone beach with a terrace area extending well out over the water. We sat outside but under cover which was very nice. While the location was great, we found the value for money wanting. We expected to pay over and above due to location but the prices (and service charges) left us gaping. We politely declined wine as it was by far the most expensive restaurant wine list we’d seen in all the Massa Lubrense region. A glass of wine for under €15 was hard to find. The meals were also very expensive with my partner having the grilled sea bass for €40 (not a particularly large serve) then having to pay extra for fries and a very ordinary salad. I had a seafood pasta for about €28. Nice, but not great for that price. The service was quite good, plenty of friendly staff on hand. For those 2 meals plus mentioned sides, bread and a bottle of still water, we walked away with a €105 bill including cover and service charges. No issue affording it, just couldn’t see the value. There are plenty of restaurants very close by offering great sea and coastline views. Whilst not dissuading anyone from dining at Lo Scoglio, you might consider these also.

Locale mozzafiato direttamente sul mare. Pranzo domenicale molto gradevole a parte un po’ di vento. Abbiamo assaggiato qualche antipasto e i primi; la nerano strepitosa. Il servizio potrebbe essere migliorato, alcuni camerieri sono gentili, altri sembra che stiano facendo un favore all’umanita’ quando li si chiama. Per andare ai bagni c’ e’ un odore nauseabondo do fogna. I prezzi sono alti , dal servizio alle bibite( acqua 5€, coca 5€)e al coperto 5€ ; ma d altro canto se si pranza quasi in un mare cristallino si puo anche soprassedere.

La location è all’altezza delle aspettative ma il cibo assolutamente no. Piatti senza infamia e senza gloria, nulla di eccezionale soprattutto se si considera il prezzo Oltremodo sproporzionato. Carissimo in tutto. Altamente sopravvalutato, boh ci tornerei e non lo Consiglierei

We first went to Lo Scoglio in Nerano because Stanley Tucci recommended it so highly; we returned a second time because the food truly was that amazing. During our two visits, we had the spaghetti with zucchini, the homemade ravioli with a simple tomato sauce, homemade pasta with mixed sea food, and grilled prawns, and wines from the area. All a delight. The restaurant sits on a pier over the water and the view is breathtaking. The staff are incredibly attentive. And the place is filled with locals who regard this the place to celebrate major occasions. It’s pure magic. Don’t miss it.
