Despite the favourable reviews I read on this restaurant mine does not reflect these sentiments.
We were advised to book & emailed our request 72 hours in advance, no reply was forthcoming!
Regardless, we arrived at 8pm & were granted a table.
The staff had no interest in guiding us through the menu or wine list, instead we were told to use the QR code, the wine was delivered, no tasting option ( which seems to be the practice in Italian restaurants), no bread served, no friendly interaction with service & no sweets delivered with the bill….not major issues for us but completely different service for the locals….Mamma Rosa herself had no interaction with us at all, despite chatting with other locals… if you’re a tourist don’t bother going to Mamma Rosa….I have been to Italy many times & this was the first time I’ve felt so unwelcome 👎👎
Maybe a bad night??

I went here because of the positive reviews but I know that you need to form your own opinion and I have tonight. I am so disappointed with many elements of this restaurant. I felt ostracised as a tourist. We were not offered bread which is a standard part of the surcharge at all restaurants. We ordered a bottle of wine and that was left on the table for us to pour. The atmosphere was cold. I was most unhappy with the service as the staff was more interested in watching a boring game show on the television. I would suggest some relevant background music would be more appropriate. Mamma Rosa was there which is laudable but she didn't engage with us and it was quite distressing to see her launch into a conversation at the next table while the fish dish went cold. I generally trust reviews but this time they fell short. I would highly recommend Casa Ragusa instead of this restaurant. There really is no comparison in terms of the service and quality of food.
