The excitement the staff had over their food was contagious. The pasta, the ragu, the fish, the wine, the enormous wine list! All spectacular. We were the first guest of the evening and the place soon filled. As it was cooler, the end of the season, the patio was enclosed. And yet it was still a beautiful dining room.

Nous sommes tombés sur ce restaurant par hasard, en cherchant un endroit où dîner à notre arrivée à Scala, alors qu’il était déjà tard. Dès notre arrivée, le serveur nous demande si nous souhaitons voir le menu avant de nous asseoir — une attitude déjà étrange, donnant l’impression que notre présence dérangeait. Une fois installés, nous avons remarqué que la salle était presque vide (à peine trois ou quatre tables occupées). Pourtant, les serveurs semblaient accorder toute leur attention aux autres clients, venant régulièrement s’enquérir de leur satisfaction, tandis que notre table était complètement ignorée. En fin de repas, le serveur (cheveux foncés mi-longs) nous propose un dessert, que nous déclinons. À peine deux minutes plus tard, il revient avec l’addition, sans que nous l’ayons demandée, comme s’il souhaitait nous voir partir au plus vite. Nous nous sommes sentis clairement mis à l’écart, voire discriminés, sans comprendre pourquoi. Une expérience franchement désagréable, marquée par un manque total de politesse et de considération. Quant à la nourriture, elle n’avait rien d’exceptionnel — comparable à celle d’un restaurant tout à fait ordinaire.

Best restaurant in Scala, and we tried many restaurants on our stay. We had an amazing dinner in a lovely atmosphere. Everything is perfect; waitors, table setting, even the toilettes. The wine list is thick as a Bible! We would love to come here again soon. It is our best memory of Scala <3 To english speaking guests: the dish "scampi" is not fried prawns as you may think, it is cray fish (that is why they asked how many we wanted... ;-) ). Hopefully they will make that clear in the menu from now. To the owner of this restaurant: You should really consider a good website for your business, since most tourists wants to browse photos and menus beforehand. Being on facebook only is not enough if you want to reach younger customers. We noticed the great effort and investment that is made in your restaurant, and wish you all the best. Thank you for a lovely experience!

Final stop of our culinary tour of Scala took us to Da Lorenzo’s with its reputation for seafood dishes. After dining at Gli Ulivi and Z’ntonios, we wondered how good it could be. It was amazing! We started with the basic caprese salad and a selection of Neapolitan bites including eggplant and stuffed pepper. Then it was onto the catch of the day, a whitefish called branzino prepared in “crazy water” and served with local vegetables. True Mediterranean cuisine, beautifully prepared and served by friendly staff. Just enough room for some tiramisu, an Americano, and a shot of limoncello to end a very pleasant evening.
