Skip-the-line tour of Vesuvius and Pompeii from Sorrento

I recently visited Italy with my partner and when we booked the trip we also booked three tours through our travel agent. The first tour was to the Vatican Museums and St Peter’s Basilica. Suggested time was approx three hours. The voucher from Acampora Travel said that the meeting point was in the front of a Bar/ cafe. They sited the address and said the time to meet was 14.15 and we would be leaving at 14.30. When no one turned up and no guide in sight, we called the Acampora contact number and were told to in fact go in the bar…. Inside we were told the guide was already there. He did not apologise about the mis communication and wording on the voucher, he did not introduce himself. He carried on eating his meal and said that we would be leaving after 15.00. We sat there and waited and eventually we walked to the Vatican museums. Throughout the visit, he appeared preoccupied, either on his mobile or in other people and did not give attention to myself and my partner. He left us in the Cistine chapel and said for us to find him when we had finished. We could not find him, so made our way to the exit. The entire tour was 1 hour and 40 minutes. He told us that we could do the St Peter’s Basilica on our own. This tour was terrible and I would not recommend this guide being used. However, the other two tours we went on were the colosseum and palatine hill, with Emmanuel. He was excellent, informative and happy to share his knowledge. The tour was not rushed and was very enjoyable. The third tour was to Pompeii and Herculaneum. The guide was Dana and again this was an excellent day. She was an amazing guide and very friendly. She shared so much information and always checked in with the group. I would highly recommend the two last tours. I am waiting for Acampora to reply to email regarding my concerns about the first guide but have yet to have a response. This would not encourage me to recommend this company to others at this stage.

We were able to book this trip on short notice after our plans changed. Stefano was very accommodating. Cinzia was a very engaging, knowledgeable and fun guide. The children were interested the whole time. Pepe the perfect driver was amazing navigating the bus. I very much recommend this tour!
