Amalfi Coast by boat: turquoise waters, iconic villages & the magic of the Emerald Grotto

What a horrible company Alilauro is. I had a ticket booked for Capri leaving at 7:15 am from Sorrento. I go up to the window to check in and the lady says dock 4 or 6. The boat listed on my ticket is Gruson Spa. There’s an Alilauro boat docked at #6 but the name is different and noone is getting on. Another boat pulls up to #4 but it’s an NLG so of course I don’t get on that. Well 7:15 came and went and no Alilauro boat except the one sitting there basically empty. I go back to the ticket booth and tell the lady it never came and she says it just left. I said you mean the NLG boat and she says yes. I said WTF that’s a completely different company and just get a blank stare back. NLG by the way is a great ferry company which I took to Positano and Amalfi on previous days and it went very smoothly.

Like other reviews on this site because it must happen often, our return trip was cancelled (under the pretext of bad weather conditions coming the next day) and just informed by email (no SMS or Tel) while we were already on Capri Island. No help (tickets sold) to organize our return and they only refund their tickets, without further compensation. Instead use NLG which we finally went back with without any problems.

Alilauro was the perfect travel option for our needs! The ferries were on time, booking was easy through the Ferryhopper app, and multiple ferry times were available, which offered flexibility during our vacation! We used Alilauro to travel between Capri, Sorrento and Positano, and it made our trip so fun and effortless!
